The reason for this change is simply that after quite a bit of discussion among the designers, we’ve decided that for Victoria 3 we want to emphasize access to achievements for everyone, even if that may end ‘devaluing’ the achievements in the eyes of some players.

There are a few game rules that disallow achievements, but since you could simply mod away that requirement if you wanted, not even this is a particularly hard rule.

That is to say, no matter what mods you have installed and whether you’re playing ironman or not, all of these achievements will be unlockable. But before I get to listing all the achievements that Victoria 3 will be releasing with, we do have something to announce in regards to achievements which will differ in Victoria 3 compared to earlier Paradox Grand Strategy Games, namely that Ironman and an unmodified checksum will no longer be required to unlock achievements. Today we’re going to be talking about Achievements, and since I think absolutely everyone reading this already knows what an Achievement is, I’m not going to do the usual what-is-this-feature preface. I think a Q2 release is still the most likely candidate here.Hello and welcome to yet another Victoria 3 development diary. My post is pure speculation, of course, however I feel like the article linked in this post is speculation with even less foundation behind it. Lots of the responses from devs in DD'S where they used to say "We are considering adding XYZ before release" has shifted to "We want to add XYZ, but it's not likely to be something we explore until after release", signifying to me that the scope of release has likely been established. The game has been in some form of design and development since 2016 at the latest.Īn increased frequency of AARs indicates a game in a playable state, albeit with imbalances which require ironing out (assuming an April release date, that's a lot of time for polish and balance).Ī lot of talk from developers about "interesting starts", which again indicates a game in a very playable state, same as the point above. They're already getting into filler dev diaries, such as flags. Which means there's a good chance preorders will open in the near future. Vic3 devs acknowledged the nvidia leak by saying "I won't say what the release date is, but that isn't it" meaning a release date has already been set and is TBA (indicating it likely isn't some far-fetched Q4 date). Q1/Q2 is still a very likely release window, considering: It simply means that paradox had the game shoved way down the list with a random absurd date to avoid too much release date speculation. In fact, it's placed way further down than that, alongside games with estimated release dates in 2023/2024.ĭoes this mean that Vic3 is coming in a year or two? No. Go scroll through "upcoming games" on steam and scroll like a madman until you can find Victoria 3. However the information provided here is simply wrong. Could it be right? Possibly, though sheer luck.
